Huddersfield duo start for England

RUGBY UNION: Stuart Lancaster hailed Kyle Eastmond’s creative potential after naming the Bath centre in the England side to play a South American XV in Montevideo tomorrow (7.30pm).

Eastmond will make his first senior start in a side featuring 13 changes from last Sunday’s 40-12 victory over the Barbarians and captained by Northampton flanker Tom Wood.

Lancaster believes former St Helens star Eastmond has all the playmaking qualities to thrive at Test level and Tomorrow’s game against the CONSUR XV is step one on that journey.

“He has got great feet and balance and he is very strong and powerful but what he has also got is great timing and execution of his passing,” said Lancaster.

“His ability to put people through holes is right up there at the highest level and we have to find the tools to allow him to execute that. He has an opportunity to do that from 12.

“Kyle is very much a ball-player. He’s omfortable at first receiver, that makes him dangerous.”

Eastmond will link in midfield with Northampton centre Luther Burrell, who is joined by fellow Huddersfield-born and former Leeds player Kearnan Myall, who starts in the second row.

Ben Foden gets a chance to press his Test claims with a start at full-back. Lancaster brought Eastmond on at full-back against the Barbarians but he is open-minded about the former rugby league star’s best position.

Lancaster has challenged Foden to use his chance to put the pressure on Mike Brown and press his Test claims ahead of the series against Argentina.
