Huddersfield Town v Swindon Town: McDermott says Town are ready for top six

League one: TERRY McDERMOTT insists Huddersfield Town's play-off destiny is in their own hands due to all of the top six still having to visit the Galpharm Stadium this season.

The Terriers host fifth-placed Swindon today knowing victory would pull them to within two points of Danny Wilson's side.

With the top three of Leeds United, Norwich and Charlton due to travel to Huddersfield, assistant manager McDermott believes Town can really lay down a marker to their rivals.

He said: "A lot of our home games are 'six-pointers' as the teams we are playing are around us in the league table.

"It is not an exact science but looking at the fixture list we could not have set it up any better. They are all winnable if we play well and we have a real desire to do it."

Town, who are also yet to host Colchester and Millwall, boast an unbeaten six-game record.

However, disappointing draws against Carlisle and Brighton & Hove Albion in their last two outings means Lee Clark's men are two points adrift of Millwall in the final play-off place.

McDermott said: "With the lads and the quality we have here, we will win games if we play well."

Swindon could hand a debut to Matt Ritchie after this week signing the Portsmouth winger on loan until the end of the season. Manager Wilson failed in his attempts to bring the 20-year-old to the County Ground on a permanent deal in January.
