Hunt for champion community welcome in countdown to Le Tour

WITH JUST four weeks to go until the Tour de France arrives in Yorkshire, the search is on to champion the communities that have transformed their neighbourhoods to welcome the Grand Départ.

The Yorkshire Post, along with The Yorkshire Evening Post, have teamed up with the Tour bid-winning tourism agency, Welcome to Yorkshire, to reward people in the region who have gone that extra mile to get their community ready for Le Tour’s visit on July 5 and 6.

Communities have embraced the impending arrival of the Tour with knitted bunting and shop window displays as well as art installations and flowerbeds.

Winners of the Best Dressed for the Yorkshire Grand Départ competition will receive a commemorative plaque and six tickets to the Team Presentation ceremony at Leeds First Direct Arena on July 3.

To nominate your community, email a supporting statement of no more than 500 words and up to three photographs that illustrate how the area has embraced the Grand Depart to [email protected].

The three categories are best town, best village and best city/community. The deadline for entries is 5pm on June 26 before winners are notified on June 30. More information is at letour.yorkshire.com/bestdressed.
