Hunt members ready to take to the stage

The Hunt’s riders may be best known for their exploits on horse-back but for three nights this week the team will take centre stage at Masham Town Hall.

The Hunt’s members will be performing a production of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs this Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday evening.

All the actors are complete amateurs from the hunt who are willing to have a whirl at acting in the hope of providing some light-hearted entertainment.

Producer/writer Sam Bratley said: “All the actors are complete amateurs from the hunt, willing to make a fool of themselves in the name of entertainment.

“Those appearing as dwarfs include the huntsman, Matthew Ramsden, who has taken to his part like a duck to water.

“He is playing Dopey! All are welcome to join us for a great fun night out.”

Tickets for the show will cost £18, including supper and can be obtained by ringing 01325 378259.

n This coming Sunday will see the Yorkshire Area Point-to-Point season continue with the seven race York & Ainsty (North & South) Hunt Point-to-Point meeting at Easingwold.

A total of 139 entries have been received with racing starting at 2pm.

The Hunt Members race kicks off proceedings in which Nippy Des Mottes could face a stern challenge from Dead Ringa.

Other notable entries include My Old Piano in the Men’s Open and seasonal debutante Bitter Blue in the Ladies Open.

The card concludes with the pen Maiden which has received 32 entries and could be split on the day. Admission is £10 per person with the meeting supporting the House That Jack Built.

Former horse-racing trainer Jack Berry himself will be in attendance, representing the Injured Jockey’s Fund.
