Huttel in to boost Steelers’ defence
The signing will no doubt be seen by some as something of a risk for the rookie coach, with it being 23-year-old Huttel’s first professional season after a successful time with the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he helped them scoop the WCHA Championship last season.
It’s the successful pedigree that Finnerty said attracted him to Huttel, as he hopes to put together a Steelers side which can defend the 2010-11 Elite League title won under former player-coach Ben Simon.

“He won last year and liked the taste of it and wants to do it again next season. I like the fact that he has won before, he is a captain, a leader and comes very well recommended. “
The arrival of Huttel comes 24 hours after the Steelers announced they had re-signed No 2 goaltender Geoff Woolhouse and young forward Tom Squires.
