And after an 8-2 defeat at the hands of English Premier League leaders Telford Tigers, it was Sheffield Steeldogs who had something to smile about 24 hours later, finally getting the better of Hull Pirates with a 4-1 triumph.
It made for a miserable weekend for the short-benched Hull Pirates, who arrived in South Yorkshire having been hammered 13-1 in what was a nightmare league debut for new Czech goaltender Vlastimil Lakosil.
