Hull continued to overawe their opponents in the second half and soon saw Neil Spence force the ball over the line for a 15-0 lead. An excellent passing move led to another try for Guy Martinson eight minutes later, cutting between two defenders from 10 metres.

Steve Slingsby scored Ionians consolation try following a long, high pass before Devonshire scored his second try from a close-range scrum that opened up and gave Hull their well deserved bonus point.

It was the back row of Tom Cokell, Ben Grange and Guy Ford who made the difference between the sides at Waterloo, setting up a platform which secured a welcome victory for the Bees.

The visitors took the lead after 12 minutes when a clever kick from Tom Davidson was followed up by Rob Almond, who outpaced the cover to touch down out wide.

Unfortunately Davidson was unable to improve the score but with penalties on 20 and 32 minutes, the Bees were comfortably and deservedly in front 11-0 as half-time approached.

With three minutes of the half remaining, the home side got on the scoresheet with Paul Banahan's penalty.

Waterloo threw everything they had at the Bees in the final moments and were rewarded with a score from winger Banahan, who was unable to convert the score and secure the losing bonus point for his side.
