Jacbequick will look to hit target again at Beverley

The years have rolled by since the seven-year-old, now trained by David O’Meara, made his racecourse debut on the Westwood back in June 2013.

Jacbequick went on to become a cult hero at Beverley, winning five times from 20 starts at the track.

However, he has not hit the target at the East Yorkshire circuit since July 2016.

But connections hope a recent second-place finish at Beverley in April can provide the necessary impetus for him to roll back the years in the Brian Dixon Memorial Handicap.

Selby resident Richard Walker, racing manager for his owners, Gallop Racing, said: “The only thing I can predict about Jacbequick is that he is unpredictable.

“You never really know what Jacbequick is going to show up on the day, but he’s a lovely horse to own and there are even shares still available in him.

“He obviously loves it at Beverley and it was great to see him go so well there last month.

The eight-race card starts at 1.55pm. Bygone Beverley Raceday – a new theme day for 2018 – recreates a meeting that was staged on May 7, 1960.

The Bygone Beverley Raceday features tic-tac challenges and demonstrations, exotic and outlandish animals, traditional rides and side stalls.
