Knight charges back to boost Stingrays

RETURNING forward Adam Knight is looking to help Hull Stingrays lift themselves off the foot of the Elite league table before the end of the season.

The Yorkshire club can do themselves a huge favour this weekend when they play the two teams immediately above them – Newcastle Vipers and Sheffield Steelers.

Catching Vipers – currently 11 points clear of Hull but having played two more games – is a more realistic target for Sylvain Cloutier's side, who have lost five of their last six games.

Knight, who has been sidelined for the last three games due to illness, said: "We need to get some consistency.

"It's very frustrating when we can perform so good one night and don't come even close the next."

Knight returns hoping to add to his tally of 14 points, including five goals, from 37 games.

"The illness did knock me back a bit but I am feeling better and looking forward to getting back out there and helping the team again.

"It's never nice to sit and watch games, you want to be out there helping your team-mates."

Before Steelers head to Hull they will hope to build on Wednesday night's 3-2 home win over Edinburgh Capitals in a double-header against Belfast Giants, who still hope to snatch the Elite League title aay from Coventry Blaze.

The first encounter takes Steelers to Belfast on Frday night before both teams return to South Yorkshire on Saturday.
