Knockara Beau pleases Charlton

GEORGE Charlton is weighing up the options for stable star Knockara Beau following his excellent effort in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham on Saturday.

The eight-year-old showed some smart form as a novice chaser but having been disappointing on his first few outings of the current season, was switched back to smaller obstacles at the weekend.

Although no match for brilliant winner Grands Crus, he managed to come home best of the rest and Charlton now needs to decide whether to stick to hurdling or go back over fences.

"He's full of himself this morning and is out in the paddock having a buck," said the Stocksfield trainer.

"It was a fantastic run and hopefully we're back to where he should be.

"It was just a pity we met such a good horse as the winner was just different class altogether, but we were delighted with our horse.

"He was up there all the way and it was a bit nerve wracking in the closing stages as I thought he might get done for second, but he got there in the end."
