Kyle Edmund sets up Novak Djokovic meeting at Indian Wells with brilliant win

Edmund trounced Gastao Elias 6-1 6-3 in little over an hour to set up set up an engrossing meeting with world No 2 Novak Djokovic.

The world No 46, from Beverley, conceded just four points from his opening six service games and broke his Portuguese opponent four times in the match.

Fellow Brit Dan Evans was in equally devastating form as he thrashed German Dustin Brown 6-1 6-1.

Evans will face world No 5 Kei Nishikori in round two.

Andy Murray will start his singles campaign on Saturday against Canadia qualifier Vasek Pospisil after receiving a first round bye.

However the Scot was in action on Friday as he teamed up alongside Evans in the men's doubles to beat Spain's No 5 seeds Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez 6-3 1-6 10-6.

Johanna Konta faces 21st seed Caroline Garcia in round three after knocking out Heather Watson in an all-British tie 6-4 6-4 on Friday.
