League One Carlisle is incentive for world's oldest club

THE oldest club in the world, Sheffield FC, face a trip to League One promotion-hopefuls Carlisle United in the first round of the FA Cup, if they can overcome Tipton in a replay.

Guiseley of the Blue Square North face Conference side Crawley Town at home while Rotherham United host York City in a Yorkshire derby.

Both Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield travel to non-league sides with the Owls at Southport and the Terriers at Cambridge United.

Guiseley were handed a home tie against big spending Blue Square Premier high-fliers Crawley Town in the first round draw made yesterday.

Chairman Phil Rogerson accepts that Blue Square North Guiseley will go into the tie as underdogs despite going unbeaten since losing their opening match.

He said: "Naturally this is not the tie we would have chosen bearing in mind how high Crawley are in the Blue Square Premier and how much money they have spent, but they will not want to come to us.

"We have home advantage and we will have good support. At this stage you either want a big club and a big gate or a team on a par with yourselves so you'll have a good chance of winning.

"They are obviously going to be favourites but the FA Cup is a great leveller.

"We are looking forward to the game and it will give our players a yardstick for when they step up to the next level."
