Leeds Carnegie have complained to Premier Rugby regarding an illegal approach for Hendre Fourie.

Leeds alledge that London Irish attempted to tap up the England flanker about a move to the Madejski Stadium.

Chief executive Gary Hetherington has registered a formal complaint against the conduct of both player agent, James Adams, and Irish for their involvement with Fourie, who is under contract with Leeds until June 30, 2012.

Hetherington said: “We allege unprofessional conduct in that James Adams contacted London Irish and negotiated a lucrative contract for Fourie in the weeks leading up to the end of the League season in full knowledge that the player was under contract.

“Also that London Irish negotiated a lucrative contract with the players’ agent and, thereby, unsettling him and inducing him to break his contract with Leeds Carnegie.”
