Leeds Carnegie star earns England debut

LEEDS CARNEGIE'S Hendre Fourie is lined up to make his England debut against the All Blacks after being named among the replacements for Saturday's international at Twickenham.

The South African-born openside missed the opportunity to face Australia on tour during the summer after suffering an ill-timed calf injury.

However, his excellent form for the Yorkshire club this season has seen the ex-Rotherham forward get the nod versus New Zealand when he could face the world's greatest No7 - Richie McCaw.

Leeds team-mate Steve Thompson has also received a boost by retaining his starting spot at hooker while former Bradford Bulls centre Shontayne Hape is named alongside Otley-born Mike Tindall as Martin Johnson remains largely faithful to the squad that defeated the Wallabies in Sydney.

Halifax-born Charlie Hodgson returns to an England Test squad for the first time since the summer tour of New Zealand in 2008, replacing the injured Jonny Wilkinson on the bench, while in the only change to the starting line-up, loose-head prop Andrew Sheridan returns following a 20-month absence after recovering from shoulder surgery.

He replaces Tim Payne while Lewis Moody has been retained as captain after recovering from a serious eye injury.

Sheridan featured in two British and Irish Lions Tests in the summer of 2009 but dislocated his shoulder in October and missed the rest of last season.

England's tight-five destroyed Australia's rookie pack during the summer but the All Blacks will be a far more dangerous animal.

Payne has dropped out of the 22-man squad altogether with Bath prop David Wilson providing front-row back-up from the bench.

Wilson is joined among the replacements by two uncapped players in Gloucester's gnarly lock Dave Attwood and Fourie, who has replaced James Haskell in the 22-man squad.

England team to play New Zealand at Twickenham on Saturday, November 6; kick-off 2.30pm:
