Leeds Rhinos rocked by Burrow blow

CHAMPIONS Leeds Rhinos are preparing to be without England scrum-half Rob Burrow for the next three months after he tore a posterior cruciate ligament.

He limped out of last Saturday's 34-30 win over Wakefield in Edinburgh and scans have since confirmed the injury which will sideline him until July.

Captain Kevin Sinfield is set to switch from loose forward to link at half-back with Danny McGuire for tomorrow night's Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth round tie with Blackpool.

Burrow does not require surgery but will undergo a period of immobilisation and rehabilitation that will take between eight and 12 weeks.

"It is obviously disappointing," he said.

"I felt something was wrong as soon as I did the injury and the scans have now confirmed that.

"We have got a great medical team here at the Rhinos so hopefully I will be able to get back sooner than expected but I will leave that decision in their hands.

"We have got a strong squad here at the Rhinos and I am sure the boys will continue to perform well in the next couple of weeks as we have got some big games coming up."
