Leicester City v Doncaster Rovers: Healy quick to praise old boy Wellens

Championship: DAVID HEALY has warned Doncaster to beware of the threat their gifted former midfielder Richie Wellens poses at Leicester today.

Rovers are already well-versed in the 30 year-old's talents after he crafted their promotion drive from League One and then helped them stay in the Championship.

But striker Healy – who has extended his loan from Sunderland – was privy to Wellens' skill range more than a decade ago.

"I played Under-14s and Under-15s with Richie at Manchester United," explained the Northern Ireland international, as Doncaster look to end their barren run at Leicester where they have never won against opponents who are resurgent under the command of new manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.

"The only surprise to me was that he never went on to play in the Premier League as with his ability, his football knowledge and the way he plays the game he deserved that.

"He did a good job here, is doing a good job there and looks like he is one of Leicester's main players."
