Leyton Orient v Leeds United: McSheffrey is key to Leeds finding spark

Leeds have stumbled in League One since the turn of the year with their five games in 2010 having yielded just five points.

Manager Simon Grayson's response to the mini-slump was to move into the transfer market shortly before the window closed with McSheffrey, who arrived on loan from Birmingham City, being among his three signings.

Doyle spent almost four seasons with McSheffrey at Coventry City and he believes United have made an astute capture.

The Dublin-born midfielder, who is on a season-long loan deal from the Ricoh Arena, said: "I am delighted that Gary has come to the club. Not just because he is one of my best mates, but because a player of that quality has come to us.

"I suppose it shows the draw of the club as well. Hopefully, between now and the end of the season, he will be a very important player for us.

"Gary is a great character as well, which always helps. He is a bubbly character and he gets on with everyone. He is also a great professional.

"On the training ground, he just gets on with things. There are no airs or graces. He works really hard and gets his rewards on the pitch. We will benefit from that."

Leeds travel to Orient looking for a victory that would, providing Norwich lose at Brighton, see Grayson's men return to the summit of League One.

With United being knocked out of both the FA Cup and JP Trophy in the past 11 days, the club's focus is on securing automatic promotion.

Doyle said: "Our season starts again at Orient. We have been keeping a close eye on the league table but the most important thing we can do is look after ourselves.

"The only thing I am looking at is us in second place and it is killing me, to be honest. We have been top for so long that to be second is disappointing."
