Match Centre: Hull City relegated but York City head for Wembley

Hull City were relegated from the Premier League after a 2-2 draw with Wigan while York City reached the Blue Square Premier play-off final.

Hull were all-but down, but today's 2-2 draw at Wigan confirmed the Tigers will be playing Championship football next season.

Steve Gohouri scored an injury-time equaliser for Wigan after Victor Moses fired the Latics ahead.

Will Atkinson levelled on his Hull debut, heading in Kevin Kilbane's cross after the Wigan defence hesitated when the linesman flagged for offside.

Mark Cullen nodded in George Boateng's cross to put the Tigers ahead but Gohouri smashed in an overhead kick from close range to make it 2-2.

York took a 1-0 lead to Luton Town with the Minstermen 90 minutes from Wembley. And they secured the trip with a 1-0 win at the Hatters thanks to a strike from Chris Carruthers.

Carruthers's moment came when he poked in a rebound after Luton keeper Mark Tyler could only parry Michael Rankine's sweetly-struck free kick.
