McKay can shake off the rust says Moxon

YORKSHIRE boss Martyn Moxon believes the best is yet to come from Australian overseas star Clint McKay.

McKay plays his last Twenty20 game for Yorkshire tomorrow against Northamptonshire at Headingley (2.30pm start) before taking a temporary break for the NatWest series.

McKay then returns for Yorkshire's last four or five group matches – depending on Australia's progress in the one-day competition. West Indian fast bowler Tino Best is set to deputise while McKay is away.

McKay took four wickets on debut against Derbyshire but was expensive in the fixtures against Worcestershire and Durham.

But Moxon said: "Clint is perhaps slightly match rusty coming from the Australian off-season and has missed his lengths on one or two occasions.

"But I would expect him to get better the more he plays."

Moxon praised Herschelle Gibbs, Yorkshire's other Twenty20 overseas signing, following his man-of-the-match display against Durham.

"Herschelle still has great hunger and enthusiasm and is very fit for the age of 36. I've been pushing him in fielding practice and it's been a breeze for him."
