Millmoor plan for ambitious Rotherham

Rotherham Titans hope to be playing at Millmoor by the end of the coming season.

The Championship club have been in negotiations with the ground-owning Booth family and Rotherham Council with a view to moving into the former home of Rotherham United to further their Premiership ambitions.

The plan is for the council to lease the ground off the Booth family and then sub-lease it to the Titans.

Club director Alan McHale said: “It’s with the solicitors at the minute and we are optimistic of news in the next month or so.

“If everything falls into place we will get a couple of games in by the end of the season.

“But the bottom line is for us to be playing at Millmoor from the start of the 2012/13 season.

“It is nothing against our spiritual home of Clifton Lane, but due to the ground-share agreement with Rotherham Town Cricket Club, we cannot develop there.

“A 10,000-seater stadium like Millmoor better suits our aims of rejoining the Premiership.”

Head coach Andre Bester has moved Rotherham to a four-day week training regime at Don Valley Stadium.
