Moon shines as the leaders sink Phoenix

North Ribblesdale maintained their slender one-point lead at the top when they gained a 36-24 home win over Doncaster Phoenix.

Flanker Michael Carr, winger Simon Spenceley, centre Ben Topham, full-back Simon Chapman and stand-off Steve Moon touched down, and Moon also kicked four conversions and a penalty for North Ribblesdale.

West Park Leeds kept their third place with a 38-8 home win over Huddersfield YMCA.

Full-back Simon Towler scored all the first-half points with a try and three penalties as West Park turned round 14-3 ahead, and he converted a penalty try early in the second period.

YMCA then had their best spell which ended in a try for left winger Chris Beevers, but the West Park scored two more long range tries by winger Alastair Booth and centre Stuart McLure.

Nick Hartley, making his first senior appearance, had an excellent game in the second-row for the Leeds club.
