Moon shines as West Park sink

North Ribblesdale moved clear at the top when they scored a 34-19 victory on their visit to previous second-placed side West Park Leeds.

Ribblesdale opened well, going ahead with a try between the posts in the first minute by winger Simon Spencely, which Steve Moon converted.

Moon also added the points when No 8 Ryan Kirkbride scored a close-range try to put the visitors 14-0 ahead before West Park replied with two penalties by Conor Armstrong.

The first of two penalties by Moon put Ribblesdale 17-6 ahead at the break, and Moon also converted second-half tries by John Moimoi and David Fox.

West Park also scored two second-half tries, by second-row Dan Thompson and scrum-half Jack Bickerdyke.

Knottingley moved ahead of West Park with a 22-8 home victory over Leodiensians, and Hullensians drew level on league points when they won by a modest 27-23 margin at home to bottom-placed Hessle.

Doncaster Phoenix moved ahead of their rivals on scoring difference, into fifth place, when they came from behind for a 15-10 win at Ripon.

Phoenix scored all their points in the second half, clinching the match at the death when second-row Mick Germain touched down between the posts and Ben Miller converted.

Moortown beat Barnsley 41-3 with two tries apiece from winger Mark WIlkinson and centre Andy Eastern.
