Olympic gold medallist Jack Laugher heads up Great Britain’s team for this summer’s European Championships in Scotland.
The Leeds-based 23-year-old, a synchronised 3m springboard champion alongside Chris Mears in Rio in 2016, won a bronze in last week’s 3m World Cup event in China along with a synchro silver with Mears, who is also named in the 15-strong team.
“The pool in Edinburgh has some great memories for me as it is where I won my first Commonwealth title with Chris,” said Laugher. “It will be great to return and face a new challenge.”
Sheffield’s Ross Haslam and Grace Reid, who earned a mixed synchronised bronze at the World Cup, will also be competing at the event Alexei Evangulov, diving’s national performance director, said they were looking to build on the progress made this year.
“We have already seen some excellent performances by our divers in 2018 across the FINA Diving World Cup, Commonwealth Games and Diving World Series,” he said.
“We have established members of the team, with younger divers who have the chance to make their mark.”
The diving competition runs from August 7 to 11 in Edinburgh as part of the Glasgow 2018 European Championships, from August 2 to 12.
The full team is: Robyn Birch, Alicia Blagg, Eden Cheng, Matthew Dixon, Daniel Goodfellow, Ross Haslam, James Heatly, Jack Laugher, Matty Lee, Chris Mears, Scarlett Mew Jensen, Grace Reid, Katherine Torrance, Lois Toulson, Noah Williams.
