Morrison's blow for Featherstone title bid

CHAMPIONSHIP leaders Featherstone Rovers take on Widnes Vikings tomorrow without Scotland international Iain Morrison who has suffered a season-ending injury.

The experienced second-row requires a knee reconstruction after rupturing his cruciate ligament during the win against Halifax.

Coach Daryl Powell is set to hand a debut to centre Duane Straugheir, who is on loan from Bradford Bulls while another ex-Odsal player, Jode Sheriffe, is ready to feature.

Third-placed Halifax bid to keep the pressure on Featherstone when they head to Dewsbury but without ex-Warrington hooker Mark Gleeson due to a bicep problem.

Their hosts – having finally picked up their first win at Keighley – are missing Adam Hayes after he underwent a shoulder reconstruction and are also concerned about winger Austin Buchanan (knee).

Coach Warren Jowitt said: "Halifax are an expensive team and they're a very good side but they're beatable just like everyone else in this division."

Keighley hope to have stand-off Jon Presley returning at Leigh so coach Barry Eaton will not have to field himself.
