Moseley v Doncaster Knights: Knights have no room for complacency in battle to beat the drop

The Knights’ director of rugby has been saying for the majority of the season that the Castle Park men needed six wins to ensure another season in the second tier, even when they suffered nine straight defeats between their third and fourth victories.

But since successive victories against Yorkshire Carnegie and Cornish Pirates seemingly edged them out of trouble, they have once again been sucked into the relegation battle due to Plymouth’s mini-revival.

It means tonight’s game between third-bottom Doncaster and second-bottom Moseley, takes on added importance.

“Plymouth are hanging on in there and it means we probably have to reassess our target,” said Griffiths, whose side are two points above Moseley and five ahead of Plymouth.

“We’re looking at probably two wins now, which would mean Plymouth would have to win three of their last six games.

“We need to win both our home games and, hopefully, pick up some points on the road, where we’ve fared well so far.

“I believe if we maintain our current form, we’ll be fine.”
