National One: Greens go off the rails at leaders

WHARFEDALE let the train take the strain but after a protracted journey to the capital they lost 78-12 at leaders Ealing Trailfinders.

The hosts scored five tries through full-back Luke Daniels (2), Arthur Ellis (2) and Phil Chesters to race into a 33-0 lead before Dan Solomi ran in from outside the 22 and Jack Barnard scored the Greens’ second try, which James Guy converted before the break when the score was 40-12, Daniels having completed his hat-trick.

Two yellow cards shortly after the interval for Adam Howard and Barnard ended all hopes of a comeback and Ealing went on to score another six tries in the second half through Tom Brown, Phil Chesters, Alex Walker (2), Alex Bradley, Anders Nilsson.

Ben Ward scored the rest of Ealing’s points with the boot to leave Wharfedale below halfway in ninth place.
