ROTHERHAM United have offered striker Ryan Taylor a new deal ahead of today’s derby against Chesterfield.

Taylor, who has missed the start of the season with a broken metatarsal, made his comeback in a midweek reserve team game.

He is unlikely to figure against the Spireites today but manager Ronnie Moore said: “We would like Ryan to stay for this season and two more. We will see what happens.”

Striker Adam Le Fondre is also in ongoing talks with the Millers over a new deal after bagging 30 goals last season.

The Millers inflicted a double on the Spireites last season and can leap-frog their local rivals in the League Two promotion race by winning this afternoon.

Chesterfield, managed by John Sheridan, are the only unbeaten side in the division but have yet to win away in three attempts.

“We know it’s going to be tough – derby games always are,” added Moore.
