The three-year-old will now move up another level in the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York next month, where he will look to cement his Classic claims.

“He’s come out of the race in very good form, thankfully,” said Great Habton-based Easterby. “It was always the plan to make more use of him.

“We actually wanted to do that at Ascot, when we went through that race we thought there’d be a couple who’d go forward, but they didn’t.

“It was a bit of a cock-up in the end because they dawdled, but we got it right eventually. It’s definitely the Great Voltigeur next and we’ll see how he gets on there.”

Meanwhile, York hero Euchen Glen’s participation in next month’s Sky Bet Ebor hinges on a scan later this week.

Trainer Jim Goldie says the horse picked up an injury when making all to land the John Smith’s Cup on Saturday under Ali Rawlinson.

“He’s got a bit of heat in a leg. It’s possibly nothing, but possibly worse. It’s similar to the Derby winner Masar by the sounds of it,” said Goldie. “We’ll scan it this week and will let people know one way or the other.”

Royal Ascot heroine Signora Cabello headlines 56 six-day acceptors for the feature £250,000 Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury this Saturday.

The two-year-old filly won the Queen Mary Stakes for Settrington trainer John Quinn and jockey Oisin Murphy.

“Signora Cabello is in great form and I am very happy with her,” said Quinn.

“We have left her in the Weatherbys Super Sprint and she is also in the Prix Robert Papin at Maisons-Laffitte on Sunday.

“At the moment, she could very easily run at Newbury, but we have not made our minds up yet. We will make a decision later in the week.”

David Menuisier has challenged Psychotic – the mount of in form PJ McDonald – to go the distance at Beverley as the West Sussex trainer tries to win the Watt Memorial Handicap for a second consecutive year.

Sussex-based Menuisier claimed the big staying race – now in its 132nd year – 12 months ago with Corpus Chorister, who, like Psychotic, is owned by Clive Washbourn.

Menuisier said: “I thought he ran really well on his last start at Beverley last month. Whether or not he will get the two-mile trip, I’m not sure, but we think it is worth a chance.”

North Yorkshire jockey Paul Mulrennan could be out of the saddle for up to eight weeks.
