Nottingham Forest V Barnsley: Hume on his way as Tudgay threatens Reds

CHAMPIONSHIP: STRIKER Iain Hume's move from Barnsley to Preston North End is not threatened by the departure of manager Darren Ferguson at Deepdale.

The Canadian international is surplus to requirements but recently returned to Oakwell after completing a three-month loan deal.

Although Ferguson was sacked this week, Preston chairman Maurice Lindsay confirmed that a permanent deal, for an undisclosed fee, will go ahead today.

"It has been obvious for some time that we have wanted to make Iain's move a permanent one," he said. "During his emergency loan spell, Iain's effervescent qualities and energy brought something different to our squad. I am delighted that we have been able to come to a financial agreement with both Barnsley and Iain himself."

Barnsley visit Forest seeking to avoid a third consecutive defeat. Forest have won three out of four and striker Marcus Tudgay, set to complete a permanent move from Sheffield Wednesday, has scored three in two starts.
