Nottingham Forest v Leeds United: Leeds must get used to underdogs tag – Grayson

Championship: WHEN Leeds United last travelled to the City Ground a little under three years ago, it was the first time two former European Cup finalists had met in the third tier of their domestic league.

United's relegation the previous May had come two years after Forest's own demise and there was an unmistakeable sense of 'how did we get here?' emanating from the two sets of supporters on the day.

Two years on from that 2-1 win for Leeds, however, and both clubs are back in the Championship and dreaming of a potential return to the top flight.

Of the two, Forest, as you would expect of a side who escaped League One two years ahead of Leeds, seem the better equipped to launch a promotion push.

Billy Davies's side may have been knocked out of the Carling Cup by League Two Bradford City in midweek but a third-place finish in last season's Championship underlines the quality that will be in the home dressing room tomorrow.

It is a point not lost on United manager Simon Grayson ahead of hostilities being resumed in front of the live Sky cameras.

He said: "We will go there and see what we can do. We know what they are capable of doing.

"Billy Davies puts the pressure on his players to produce, their fans' expectancy levels will be there and automatic promotion will be high on the agenda for them. It will be the case this year where other teams will be favourites but we will be giving our all, being positive and, hopefully, giving a good account of ourselves."

Grayson, meanwhile, has confirmed trialist Ramon Nunez will remain at Elland Road for a second week.

The Honduran international midfielder has been with the club for the past seven days and featured in the midweek friendly win over Bradford Park Avenue.

Grayson added: "He has done okay this week. We got clearance for him to play in midweek and he did okay in the game.

"We will keep him for another week and see how he does.

"It can be tough being a trialist because sometimes you need that bit longer to settle and adapt. A second week can give you a better chance."

Striker Nunez has made 21 appearances for Honduras. He featured in all three group games in this summer's World Cup as Honduras lost to Chile and Spain before drawing with Switzerland.
