Osberton hat-trick of victories for Pullan

KNARESBOROUGH breeder and producer Steve Pullan has hailed this month’s magnificent Osberton hat-trick as a brilliant end to a highly successful season.

Pullan pulled off a treble in the Veterinary Hospital-sponsored in-hand classes, winning the Overall Championship with his 16-year-old brood mare Little Alice. A previous Horse of the Year Show Cuddy In-Hand Champion, Little Alice adds the Osberton title to a long list of 2014 successes, including Supreme Champion mare at Buckinghamshire County Show, Scottish Horse Show Champion Sports Horse and Royal Norfolk Champion Sports Horse.

Pullan also produced the winner of the two-year-old class, Ros Croft’s black filly Grace XX, who was shown three times as a yearling and was unbeaten.

Among her successes was the Supreme Championship at Bramham in 2013. She also won at this year’s Bucks County show and was the Scottish Horse Show Champion. Her stablemate Aredis Power Beam completed the Osberton hat-trick by taking second place in the two-year-old class. Owned by Pullan, the bay colt has won a total of seven classes at major shows this year.

Fittingly, Pullan’s prize-winning colt is out of Cleveland Bay mare, Knaresborough Moonbeam, which has the stallion Osberton David in its pedigree.

“We are absolutely delighted with the results,” said Pullan.

“It is a brilliant end to a successful season. We have been to Osberton three times and it is an event we always enjoy. We will definitely be back. Osberton was very well known for its Cleveland Bay stallions in the 70s and it seems very fitting that a prize should go to a colt with Osberton blood.”

The in-hand classes were judged by former Olympic Event champion Bridget Parker, who is a British team selector.

Her co-judge was former international eventer Christie Wright.
