The 34-year-old from Castleford joined Rovers ahead of the 2020 season and made six appearances for the Championship side before the season was put on hold by the coronavirus pandemic.

Ferres made his professional debut with Bradford Bulls before having spells at Wakefield Trinity, Castleford Tigers, Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos, where he won the Super League Grand Final in 2017.

With the Championship campaign cut short and no decision yet if it will return this year, Ferres feels he has "unfinished business" with Featherstone.

"We didn't play too many games before the season got cut-off so there's definitely some unfinished business here," he said.

"I had a chat with Steve Gill and Davide Longo and it was an easy choice to stay with Featherstone.

"Obviously I'm delighted, it's been an indifferent year so I'm looking forward to hopefully getting back out there on the pitch soon."

Featherstone football manager Steve Gill hailed Ferres's "outstanding" form before the shutdown of rugby league and was keen to keep him at the club for another season.

The forward has over 300 Super League appearances to his name and lifted the 2006 World Club Challenge at Bradford and the 2013 League Leaders' Shield with the Giants.

Gill added: "It’s good to know Brett will be with us for the 2021 season, he has already shown what he brings to the team, both off and on the field in his short time here.

"He had been outstanding for us before the lockdown and I’m confident he will continue his form going into the 2021 season."
