First up for me is That Peter Crouch Podcast a light-hearted look at life as a footballer, with former Premier League and England star Peter Crouch revealing stories from his top-flight and international career. Presented along with BBC Radio 1’s Chris Stark and BBC Sport writer Tom Fordyce, the podcast is on its fourth series and has provided plenty of laughs along the way. I only tuned in to the podcast toward the end of its second series but quickly listened back to the ones I missed and eagerly look forward to each new episode, as new content of any kind is a luxury in these times.

The Football Ramble is another great football podcast presented by Luke Moore, Pete Donaldson, Marcus Speller and Jim Campbell. Usually, the quartet would reflect and preview each weekend of action but with no football being played, they have been reacting to the latest football news and reviewing a selection of quirky football films while in lockdown.

Undr the Cosh – presented by much-travelled striker Jon “The Beast” Parkin and two Chris Browns. Adult chat with a whole host of former footballers from clubs across this region and further afield including Geoff Horsfield, Leon Knight, Clarke Carlisle, Micky Gray, Ronnie Moore and Dominic Matteo.

And not forgetting, the Inside RL Podcast with myself and the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Peter Smith (anything for hits;-).

Another call for Undr the Cosh. Memories of a time when footballers were not quite as clean-cut.

I’m a huge podcast fan as it helps pass the time on a long commute from south to west Yorkshire. And as a lover of American sports, I’m all over as many Stateside shows as possible. The Bill Simmons Podcast is my favourite at the minute because I’ve been getting into the NBA over the last couple of years and he is the authorative voice. Simmons has a great way of fusing the past with the present in a sport he lives and breathes. His guests are great and he has a big enough pull to get Hollywood actors in to talk about their careers?

NFL-wise, Around the NFL is a very popular American football show that comes out three or four times a week. The four guys who present it have become cult voices in the sport, moreso here in the United Kingdom, where they have built a very healthy following.

I’m a big player of fantasy sports as well, particularly the NFL, and of the myriad podcasts out there, CBS’s Fantasy Football Today is my favourite, particularly during the season. The week has a great structure to it that helps fantasy players select their team, the host is so well-prepared and keeps the show moving and the chemistry between the analysts is just about on the right side of healthy debate versus downright disdain for each other’s opinions.

Closer to home, The Cycling Podcast is a staple of the summer months. Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe talk passionately about the sport they love and bring a knowledge and understanding that is unequalled in cycling audio shows.

If you like your Olympic sports, Anything But Footy is a good window into the governing bodies and personalities that shape the British Olympic landscape.

Is this a good chance to advertise our own podcasts? Good, anything on the YP Sport feed of which there is plenty, led by a host of individual clubs’ season reviews.

Editor’s note: First and foremost - and rarely have I written down these words with more sincerity - I hope this finds you well.
