After playing four fixtures in 11 days to start December, tomorrow’s journey over the border is the Sharks’ only game in 21 days over the festive period and into the new year.

They last played last Sunday, when defeating Bristol Flyers, and are back in action after the Christmas break on Sunday, January 3, when Plymouth Raiders come to Ponds Forge.

Other BBL teams are scheduled to play over Christmas, but for Callum Jones, the upcoming lack of action heightens the importance of getting a result in the Scottish capital.

“You have to go into that game knowing you’ve got to put in a good performance, expecially knowing you’ve got 10 days to dwell on it afterwards,” said the British-born guard.

“We’ve got a few days off in that weird schedule, so I’ll do a bit of personal training over the festive period, hopefully in the knowledge that we’ve done the job up in Glasgow.”

A victory would take Sheffield to a 3-2 record in the BBL Championship, with their trajectory pointing upwards after a disappointing exit from the BBL Cup.

On the team’s league form so far, Jones said: “We were very disappointed with that first loss against Cheshire, then had a bad five minutes at Leicester.

“But the two wins at home have been quite comprehensive, so it’s a positive sign. We just want to keep building. There’s no let-up in any game. What we’ve seen in the league already is a few weird results, so we cannot lose focus.

“Guys in the team have been in the league long enough to know if you play hard and bring that intensity on defence and keep the focus on offence then you’re going to have success.”
