Sheffield Sharks urged to focus on victory, not the points deficit

Sheffield Sharks will need to come from behind for the second time in a week if they are to keep their quest for silverware alive.

Sharks head to the capital to face London City Royals in the BBL play-off semi-final on Saturday night (8pm) trailing their hosts by two points after a 63-61 defeat in the first leg on Thursday night at the English Institute of Sport.

They have overcome bigger deficits this post-season – Sharks trailed by five points after the home leg against Newcastle Eagles in the quarter-final but overturned that quite comfortably.

“We’ll just do what we said last week,” said captain Mike Tuck.

“The first thing I said to the guys was don’t even think about the aggregate score, just focus on trying to win the game.”

The final is at London’s O2 Arena on Sunday, May 19, with Leicester Riders holding a two-point lead over Plymouth Raiders in the other semi-final, ahead of Sunday night’s return leg in that tie.
