The horse won in the colours of the late Yorkshire-born engineer Alan Potts and was trained in Ireland by Jessica Harrington.
Ridden by Robbie Power, Sizing John will be celebrated as the first horse to win three Gold Cups in a single season.

Sizing John also helped launch the career of top rider Jonathan Burke who is now based in Britain.
Meanwhile, Richad Fahey’s Mr Lupton is out to bag his second major prize in the space of a week in today’s QTS Ayr Gold Cup. The sprinter was a winner on Irish Champions Weekend at the Curragh last Sunday for the Malton trainer.
With apprentice Billy Garritty booked for the ride, Fahey is hopeful Mr Lupton can provide him with a third victory in the Scottish showpiece after Fonthill Road and Don’t Touch.
