Patience key if Stingrays are to slay Giants

JEFF GLOWA says Hull Stingrays need to adopt a patient approach if they are to get anything out of Thursday night's trip to Elite League title hopefuls Belfast Giants.

With just eight games of the regular season remaining, the Hull captain realises his side need to take something from their trip to Dundonald if they are to stand any chance of lifting themselves off the bottom of the table and above Newcastle Vipers.

The North East club are currently nine points clear of Hull, having played a game more but the two sides still have to play each other three more times before the end of the season.

And Glowa, who has nine goals and 31 assists to his name, believes Hull can close the gap on Newcastle by adding an away victory over Belfast to the two home wins they have enjoyed over the Giants already this season.

"Belfast are a top side who play well at home," said Glowa.

"But we have had some close games with them this season and there is no reason why we can't go there and get the two points.

"We need to play good defence and get the puck in their zone and keep cycling. It's about patience – that's what we did against Coventry.

"We didn't force anything as we know we can't run and gun with these guys. It goes pear-shaped when we open it up. It's about discipline."
