Championship: PAUL McSHANE is set to make his debut for Barnsley against Portsmouth this afternoon after arriving on a two-month loan deal from Hull City.

The Republic of Ireland international, 25, was drafted in this week after centre-back Stephen Foster was ruled out for six weeks with a torn thigh muscle.

Manager Mark Robins said: “He’s a combative competitor, a ‘die-in-the-ditch’ sort of player who is raring to go. He brings a wealth of experience and will help alleviate a problem.”

Teenagers Jordan Clark and Danny Rose have penned their first professional contracts – committing their futures to the club until summer 2013.

“Their progress in the last eight months has been excellent and we will seek to develop them further,” said Robins. “There are one or two other players that are not too far behind them and this should be an encouragement for them to keep improving. It is also a boost for everyone to see that our Academy system is producing quality home-grown players.”
