Price cashes in as leaders are toppled

Third-placed Castleford, after three consecutive defeats, made up lost ground with a 17-9 home victory over leaders Wheatley Hills as second-placed Sheffield lost at home to a revitalised Malton and Norton.

Castleford took an early lead with a penalty from Carl Paterson, Wheatley equalising through Dan Storey.

The home side turned round 10-3 ahead after winger Martin Dye touched down in the corner five minutes before the break, Paterson converting.

Two further penalties by Storey put Wheatley back to 10-9, but Castleford clinched the match two minutes from the end when scrum-half Dan Price crashed over and Paterson converted.

Malton and Norton scored their fifth straight win with a 17-13 verdict at Sheffield.

The home side led 13-10 at half-time with Alex Hill and Ewan Reed having scored tries, but Malton went on to win with Henry Newitt and Ben Salisbury touching down, centre Teei Piawi kicking both conversions and a penalty.

Keighley fought from behind three times to win 17-15 at Heath, moving clear of their rivals and going ahead of Bradford Salem, who lost 34-10 at York.

Heath broke out to score an early try by full-back Ben Littlewood before Keighley edged in front with a try by captain and No 8 Leigh Sugden, converted by Alex Brown.

Heath went back in front with a try from Luke Clogher, converted by Littlewood, but Keighley turned round 14-12 ahead after Brown had converted a try by Scott Dyson.

Josh Lister, who had taken over from injured Littlewood, kicked a penalty, but Brown restored Keighley's margin with a penalty and the visitors were forced into defence for the last five minutes.

Yarnbury won 19-0 at Dinnington, with tries from flanker RIchard Longstaff, wing forward David Moss and winger Chris Flowers.
