Racing in Yorkshire pleases Oldham

REIGNING National Champion Paul Oldham made his second successful trip to Yorkshire in as many weekends, taking victory in the second round of the Yorkshire Points Series in Northallerton.

Oldham, 33, from Lancashire, won by around four minutes over a course based on Hambleton Leisure Centre as he continues his preparations for the forthcoming National Trophy Series.

Durham 17-year-old Adam Martin took second spot, just holding off 18-year-old Pedalsport rider Jack Clarkson from Halifax, while Northallerton veteran Noel Clough took fifth spot in the seniors.

In time trialling, Wrenthorpe 15-year-old Oliver Wood finished third in the national final of the GHS Schools Championship staged on a 10-mile course at Walton-on-the-Wolds near Loughborough on Saturday.

He clocked 21min 43sec for the course, just 28 seconds slower than winner Germain Burton from London.

And Scunthorpe Poly CC rider Anthony Nash also came home third, this time in the JE James 25-mile event, near Worksop, in Nottinghamshire.
