Read aims for play-offs with Stingrays

INCOMING defenceman Trevor Read is aiming to take Hull Stingrays to the Elite League play-offs for a second year running after signing up for the 2010-11 season.

The 29-year-old is the sixth new import signing for player-coach Sylvain Cloutier, who has now finalised his roster ready for his second season in charge at Hull Arena.

Matt Suderman, Andrew Coburn, Josh Mizerek, Chris Korchinski and Christian Boucher are the other new faces lining up for the East Yorkshire club.

Read - who iced with Basingstoke Bison during 2008-09 - turned professional when he joined ECHL outfit Toledo Storm in 2002, helping them to the divisional title.

Stints followed with various clubs in North America, most notably with the CHL's Amarillo Gorillas, before he headed to the UK and Basingstoke. Last year saw him based in France with Gap HC before the persuasive powers of Cloutier prompted him to return to England for a second spell.

"My expectations for this year are to make the play-offs," said Read. "I think having seen the players we have signed we will have a good team and anything can happen in the play-offs."
