Robert steers triumphant course just ahead of father John

A TRIP to Sweden for Stockholm's CS13 star international show turned out to be extremely worthwhile for Robert Whitaker, who will soon be taking delivery of a new VW car.

There were four VWs up for grabs at the competition and the Huddersfield rider made sure of one of them when he won the Volkswagen Cup. Robert was riding Mandy Hall's bay gelding Rostaar and they completed the 1.50m course in a time of 55.32 seconds.

Robert's father John was not far behind him in third place. John was also placed third in a 1.40m class with Argento and in the Stockholm Grand Prix with Dazzle 11, a horse he owns jointly with Mandy Hall.

Robert Smith was also competing in Stockholm. He rode his top horse, Talan, in the Stockholm Grand Prix where he jumped clear but had an unlucky time fault to finish ninth. Robert jumped Talan in the 1.45m class where they finished third.

THE British Horse Society have decided to divide their North of England region so that they can give a better service to their members.

They have appointed a new development officer, Amy Clements, who will take over covering Yorkshire and Humberside from Wendy Suddes. This will leave Wendy able to concentrate on Cleveland, Cumbria, Durham and Northumberland.

Development officers cover a range of tasks for the BHS, from managing teams of volunteers to organising events and recruiting members.
