Rochdale v Rotherham United: Millers face up to stern test

RONNIE Moore admits Rotherham United's next two games are 'vital' if the club are to win promotion to League One.

The Millers, currently third in the League Two table, visit leaders Rochdale today and second-placed Bournemouth next weekend.

"These next two matches are vital," said Moore. "I want a minimum of four points from them, but if we were to win both it would put us in a brilliant position with games in hand."

After three consecutive postponements, the Millers are only two points clear of Notts County, who lead the chasing play-off pack.

But Moore said: "This rest we had could be the best thing that has happened. Playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday can be a good thing and it's not as though we only have 16 players.

"We're 14 points behind Rochdale but we've played three games fewer and three more points are up for grabs here," he said.

Striker Adam Le Fondre is looking forward to his first return to Rochdale since moving to the Millers last summer.

Although his former club occupy a better position in the table, Le Fondre insists the move was best for all parties.

"I wanted to play every week and that's why I needed to move," he said. "The problem for Rochdale is they are only a smallish club and their low attendances mean they need more money."
