Rosslyn Park 50 Wharfedale 3: Wharfedale destroyed in a mis-match

This was ultimately another mismatch between a London side, fast, strong and confident, and a Yorkshire side reduced by injuries and out of confidence.

Wharfedale started brightly through fly-half Tom Barrett and penetrating breaks by Lloyd Davies, Aaron Myers and Dan Solomi but they lacked the killer touch.

As it was, by half-time they only had Barrett’s penalty to show for their efforts. By contrast, Rosslyn Park scored three tries, all wide on the right, through Edwards, Broughton and Ward, all converted by Katz for a 21-3 scoreline which in no way reflected the balance of possession and play.

Wharfedale’s second-half threat was confined to occasional bursts from Barrett and the hard-working Whaites, and as the game wore on the strong home forwards took increasing control; and a drop-goal from Mugford and four more tries from Mugford, Campbell, Edwards and Bigley, three of them converted, completed the scoring.
