Rotherham Titans coach Mark Jones welcomes chance to set B&I Cup record straight against Moseley

They lost 26-10 in the Midlands and now, essentially, have to win all three of their remaining games in Pool One to stand a chance of progressing to the knock-out stages.

Moseley are again the opponents at Clifton Lane today when head coach Mark Jones hopes his side will start on the road to achieving that aim.

“Usually when you lose a game you have to wait months before having an opportunity to try and reverse what went wrong,” he said.

“We have that opportunity after a week and that’s great as we don’t have to live with the hurt for too long. We made around 130 tackles in the first half with the wind in our favour last Saturday; that’s a full game’s worth on a normal day.

“Then, to ask the boys to turn around and put in a shift for 40 minutes into pretty much a gale force wind is a big ask.

“We didn’t get it right on the day in that respect and we got what we deserved.

“We know it’s not going to be easy this week and Moseley will have got their tails up now as they know we are beatable.

“Our mentality will be the same, however, in that we want to impose ourselves on the game, but we’ll need to be much more clinical and accurate in what we want to achieve.”

Jones makes six changes to his starting line-up, including a new half-back pairing of Andy Davies and James McKinney, while winger Michael Keating returns for Ben Rath and Ross Jones replaces injured full-back Sean Scanlon.

Kevin Sinfield will wear Yorkshire Carnegie’s fly-half jersey as they seek to retain top spot in Pool Three when visiting London Scottish today.

Carnegie enjoyed a 56-7 win over the same opponents last Sunday, when Sinfield was pivotal, but with Scottish, Munster A and Carnegie all tied on two wins apiece, victory this weekend could be decisive in qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Winger Jonah Holmes reverts to full-back with Taylor Prell missing out having been in camp this week with the England Under-20 squad along with team-mates Josh Bainbridge and Jack Walker. Andy Saull is set to return from injury off the bench.

Experienced Doncaster Knights centre Bevon Armitage makes his own return today having been sidelined with a bicep problem since September.

He comes in for their B&I Cup game against Newport Gwent Dragons Premiership Select XV, a side the South Yorkshire club defeated last week, as Doncaster head to a revised venue of CCB Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach.

Fly-half Simon Humberstone is hoping to make his first competitive appearance for Knights since signing in the summer. The former Cardiff Blues No 10 picked up a shoulder injury in the pre-season opener versus Hull RUFC, but is finally fit and on the bench.
