Rotherham United v Grimsby Town: Defender Gunning set for debut against Town

League two: NEW signing Gavin Gunning will make his debut for Rotherham United in today's game against struggling Grimsby Town.

Gunning, 19, joined the Millers last night on a month's loan from

Premier League club Blackburn Rovers

A defender who is equally at home at full-back or in the centre of defence, Gunning played six times on loan for Tranmere Rovers last season.

Manager Ronnie Moore said: "Gavin is a bright lad and certainly one for the future. He will give us some more strength and competition for places for that position."

Moore, meanwhile, says Nicky Law can do far better than a move to Blackpool. The former Sheffield United midfielder is still wanted by the Seasiders who failed with a 150,000 offer for his services last week.

Moore knows it is vital to get back to winning ways after the shock of a home defeat against rock-bottom Darlington in midweek.

Victory today could lift the Millers back into the automatic promotion places but a defeat could pull them out of the play-off places depending on other results. Significantly, they do have games in hand.
