Rotherham United v Lincoln City: Moore fails to lure son in striker hunt

League Two: ROTHERHAM United manager Ronnie Moore has been blocked in a bid to sign his son Ian Thomas-Moore from Tranmere Rovers.

Moore turned to his son yesterday after former Barnsley striker Jon Macken, who is also wanted by Bradford City, stalled on the offer of a deal with the Millers.

It is understood Thomas-Moore, 33, has now submitted a transfer request following Tranmere's refusal to sanction his move to the Don Valley Stadium.

Moore is short of strikers for today's opening game due to injuries ruling out both Ryan Taylor and Tom Pope.

Former Charlton Athletic striker Izale McLeod is another player interesting both Rotherham and Bradford while Moore is still running the rule over Nigerian trialist Jeremiah Ani.

Although Adam Le Fondre, who scored 30 goals last season, remains, Moore does not want to rely purely on his highly-rated young striker for goals this season.
