Rotherham United v Torquay United: Le Fondre hits farewell milestone

STRIKER Adam Le Fondre plans to wave farewell to Rotherham United today after celebrating a personal milestone.

Le Fondre, 25, will make his 100th appearance for the Millers against Torquay United but has also signalled his firm intention to quit the club.

He has bagged 54 goals in the last two seasons but rejected the offer of a new deal this season and, with a year remaining on his existing contract, will fetch up to £1m in the transfer market.

“I’ve done my time in League Two,” he said. “I want to play higher and everyone knows that. It doesn’t thrill me playing in this division.”

With 10 players out of contract this summer, it promises to be a busy summer for new manager Andy Scott. Chairman Tony Stewart is vowing to provide the financial support needed.

“We will have one of the top budgets for League Two and it has been that way since I have been here,” said Stewart. “I’m disappointed not to go up but the fans will see changes they will welcome.”
