Round-Up: Malton continue their fine form

Yorkshire One: Malton and Norton scored their tenth win in as many matches, 32-25 at North Ribblesdale, to maintain their eight-point lead at the head of Yorkshire One.

Centre Ryan Lonsdale scored three of Malton's tries, with scrum-half Tom Collard adding another. Teei Piawi converted three out of four and also kicked two penalties.

North Ribblesdale took two bonus points from the match, having lost by seven and scored four tries. Flanker Nathan Dakin touched down, as did No 8 Ryan Kirkbride, winger Matt Dakin and full-back Simon Bolland, while stand-off Steven Moon kicked a penalty and conversion.

Sheffield also got a four-try bonus to maintain second place, beating Ilkley 35-19 at Abbeydale Park.

But third-placed Heath were held to a 32-32 draw in an action-packed match at York, where a penalty by York flanker John Dawes, with the last kick of the game, levelled the score.

Giles Hetherington scored two of Heath's four tries.

Scarborough moved ahead of Ilkley with a 14-5 home win over higher placed Knottingley.

Scarborough went 14-0 ahead with a try by winger Harry Domett and three penalty goals by prop Matty Jones. While Scarborough's No 8 Chris Lee was in the sin bin, Knottingley grabbed a consolation try by left winger Paul Rockett.

Selby ran out 38-15 winners in their clash over mid-table rivals Keighley.

Wingers Ollie Saunders and Alex Arthur scored first half tries, as did Iain Adamson who also kicked two conversions, and with Alex Webster adding a couple of penalties Selby were 25-10 up at the break, with Scott Dyson scoring Keighley's first half try and Danny McGhee kicking a conversion and penalty.

After the break Saunders scored again, while Adamson kicked two further penalties and a conversion.

For Keighley, centre Marco Ferrazzano touched down, but it was not enough.

Bridlington kept their promotion ambitions on track with a five-try victory over strugglers Dinnington, winning 29-6.

Centre Ben Johnson and winger Gary Stevens touched down in the first half as the East Yorkshire six led 12-6 at the break. And they continued the pressure after half time, with full-back Regan Stirk scoring twice and Stevens once again, while Steve Mellonby kicked a couple of conversions.

Yorkshire Two: Second-placed Pocklington boosted their Yorkshire Two title hopes when they beat leaders Huddersfield YMCA 11-6 in Yorkshire Two.

A try from Ben Clay and a couple of penalties from Nick Bennett were enough to edge past the YMCA, whose only points came from the boot of James Swift.

Yarnbury came out on top in the mid-table scrap with West Leeds, winning 23-10.

A hat-trick of tries from full-back Andy Greaves helped them secure the win, while stand-off Carl Patterson kicked a conversion and two penalties.

For West Leeds, winger Andy Finn touched down and Danny Monk kicked the conversion and a penalty, but it was not enough to avoid defeat.

Barnsley ran in ten tries in a 65-0 home victory over struggling Roundhegians.

Winger Darryl Cheetham scored the first after nine minutes and went on to claim a hat-trick, while replacement flanker Joe South touched down twice in the second half.

Stand-off Patrick Jensen kicked six conversions and a penalty.

Doncaster Phoenix, still on equal points with Barnsley thanks to five tries, also moved up one place with a 36-18 home win over Ripon.

Yorkshire Three: Wath on Dearne, after conceding an early penalty, took control to maintain their winning record with a 42-3 verdict at Halifax Vandals.

Full-back Adam West ran in three of Wath's eight tries.

Winger Ben Keen, who also contributed a try, converted West's second but that was his only successful kick with every other try being scored wide out.

Second placed Goole, who were level with a game in hand, went clear of Baildon when they scored four tries in a 34-26 home win over York RI, who thus narrowly missed a losing bonus point.

Rotherham Phoenix came from behind for their 19-7 win at Northallerton.

The home side took the lead with a converted try after only four minutes, but Rotherham had edged in front with two unconverted tries and a penalty by half time. Hessle notched up five tries in their 30-11 demolition of injury-hit Thornensians.

Hessle's strong pack won the day over their Doncaster-based opponents, although they were only 12-5 ahead at half time with Thorne defending doggedly until tiring in the second half.
