Anderson is hoping Trinity can do talking on the pitch

The Championship leaders, who have already dumped Super League Salford Red Devils out of the competition, are backing themselves to cause another upset at Belle Vue.

It might, conceivably, not even be deemed an upset; while bottom-placed Wakefield have lost their last 11 league games, Leigh are on an incredible 24-match winning run so are understandably confident.

They are also renowned for their physical approach and aren’t afraid to rile opponents with intimidatory tactics.

But prop Anderson said: “I’ve heard all the talk and everything that is going on.

“I don’t really listen to that. I’d rather just wait until the game and do it out there.

“We’re not going to go in there and do all the hype and getting in amongst that. That’s not our game.

“They can talk it up as much as they like but we’re not there for that.

“We’re there to play rugby, play a skilful game and see where we come out of it.”

Wakefield are fully expecting to play Leigh again in the middle eight Qualifiers play-offs this summer so this could be seen as a dress rehearsal for that.

“It is a big game, there’s no two ways about it,” admitted the Australian, as Trinity strive to get a win that could kickstart their season on two fronts.

“It is the Challenge Cup, though, where we’re going.

“We’re not looking at those future games. Hopefully we’ll come away with the win and if we get that it will probably help us later in the season.”

Anderson, meanwhile, finally made his return against Hull KR last Thursday having missed 10 weeks due to a knee ligament injury.

“It was pretty frustrating all that time out so it was good to be back on the field, getting some match fitness and to be alright for Sunday,” said the 29-year-old former Melbourne Storm star.

“Our confidence is low at the moment having been beaten by 40 plus for a few weeks now.

“I want to bring some positivity back and try to lift the boys. We just need a win and this game is going to be good for that if we can get that victory and push on for Super League.”
